Hundreds of reports flooded the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the USGS website of a earthquake in the county on Sunday afternoon. According to the United States Geological Survey, nearly 300 residents had reported the earthquake on the agency’s website, earthquake.usgs.gov.
USGS said that the earthquake occurred around 12:52 p.m. less than two miles east of Manchester, at a depth of around seven miles.
A map of USGS shows that responses from local resident ranged from a feeling a light shaking to not feeling shakes at all in the region. USGS said that an earthquake with a 3.0 magnitude is considered a minor earthquake, but the energy released is like that of a bomb going off.
