It is expected that more holiday gifts and greetings will be sent through the mail this year, as families and friends will hold virtual celebrations instead of opening gifts in person. The postal service always encourages customers to send their holiday gifts and cards early. This year is no different says the USPS.
“We thank our customers for their continued support, and we are committed to making sure gifts and cards are delivered on time to celebrate the holidays,” said a news release from the postal service.
Locally, the West Union Post Office is working hard to get through the volume. One postal employee posted to social media this weekend thanking the community for their understanding. “We have had record breaking sales on our stamps, postage, products, etc. and we appreciate you for giving us your business.” “I would also like to assure you that we are working very hard to provide you with quick and adequate service. We delivery everything that comes into our office daily, nothing is held and this week we have been putting in the hours to get everything accomplished.”
“Over the next few weeks, your mail will probably be later than usual, and your packages may come at a different time than your mail. I can tell you that due to COVID, other sickness, and the holidays, our distribution center in Columbus is very, very backed up.”
