Ruth Stidham, 86 years, of Peebles, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at her residence.
Ruth was born in Richmond, Kentucky, on August 24, 1933, the daughter of the late Ermon J and Mary Jane (Northern) Whitamore.
Ruth found great joy in caring for her home and family. Ruth and her family devoted much of their lives to their singing group, The Gospel Travelers, singing and preaching in the tri-state area. In her later years, Ruth volunteered with the Peebles Fire and Rescue Squad and served the Amish community in various capacities. In addition to her late parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Glenn Lantis, whom she married in 1951. She was also preceded by her sister, Opal Hobbs; her brother, Robert Whitamore; her son, Virgil Stidham, Jr.; and her sons-in-law, Charles Rose and Walter Stephens, Jr. Ruth is survived by her husband of 56 years, Virgil Stidham, Sr., whom she married in 1963; and by her three daughters, Betty Jane (Clarence) Patterson, of Dayton; Erma Stephens, of Rockwood, Tennessee; and Marsha (Ken ) Grover, of Fern Park, Florida. Ruth will be missed by her grandchildren, Raenita Stephens, Carl Stephens, and Rose (Mark) Stephens-Gillette; her great-grandchildren, Andrew Spaeth, Jacob Spaeth, Emma Hubbard, Rinoa Dull, Noah Stephens, Nathan Stephens, Olivia Stephens, Joshua Stephens, Kenya Stephens, Raelee Stephens, Leighann Stephens; and her great, great-grandchildren, Walter Stephens-Smith and Carson Ratliff.
Funeral services, officiated by Bruce Lamb and Gary Ferguson, will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 7, 2020, at the Well of Grace Church, Lebanon, Ohio. Entombment will follow at the Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville, Ohio. Family and friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 6, 2020, at the Well of Grace Church, Lebanon, Ohio.
