The Southern Ohio Publishing Group is mourning the loss of Linda Caraway Fannin, who passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2025, at the age of 84. Known for her warmth and dedication Linda leaves behind a legacy of hard work and compassion that touched many lives.
Born on February 26, 1941, in Blue Creek, Linda was the daughter of the late Harry and Edith Maynard Caraway. A proud graduate of Jefferson High School’s Class of 1959, Linda lived a life shaped by her love of family and a tireless work ethic.
Throughout her career, Linda held various roles, from working for the State of Ohio in Columbus to serving her community closer to home at the Adams County Department Store, Defender Publishing Company and Knauff’s Grocery. Later in life, she became a vital part of The Informer team, where she assisted part-time with the Informer Printing Division and customer service at the newspaper office.
Matthew Sheeley, Publisher of The Informer, reflected on Linda’s contributions and the impact she had on the publication. “Linda brought an incredible sense of order, professionalism, and kindness to everything she did,” Sheeley said. “Her experience, dedication, and warm smile made her an essential part of our team and a treasured friend to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.”
Beyond her professional life, Linda was devoted to her family. She is survived by her children, Amy (Robert) Staats, Dean (Karin) Fannin, and Will (Danielle) Fannin, along with her grandchildren, Caitlynn, Austin, and Mason, and her great-granddaughter, Lauren, with another great-grandchild on the way. Linda also leaves behind her sister, Harriet (Terry) DeMint; brother, Forrest (Angela) Caraway; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Jefferson Alumni Association, c/o Linda Stepp, to honor Linda’s strong connection to her alma mater.
Linda will be remembered as a kind-hearted, hard-working, and generous woman who brought joy and stability to those around her. Her legacy lives on through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her 84 years.
