Virginia Tolle will mark a remarkable milestone on March 31, 2025, as she celebrates her 99th birthday. A beloved member of the community, Mrs. Tolle has faced numerous health challenges over the years, yet she remains positive and forward-looking, cherishing time with her family and keeping up with local events.

Her son and daughter-in-law, Naman and Eddyth Tolle, provide her with unwavering care and affection, ensuring she is surrounded by love each day. She also delights in visits from her great-grandsons, Robbie and Sidney, who reside in Kentucky.
Terri Austin brought Mrs. Tolle’s upcoming birthday to our attention. Terri’s father served as the platoon staff sergeant for Mrs. Tolle’s late husband, June Robert Tolle, during World War II. Mr. Tolle was part of General George Patton’s Third Army in Europe, serving in Company H of the 134th Medical Regiment (attached to the 68th Medical Regiment), 20th Corps, 664th Medical Clearing Company, through October 1945. The Tolles remained deeply connected to Mr. Tolle’s wartime comrades, attending national reunions of the 664th Medical Clearing Company from 1976 to 1995. Their kindness and support extended beyond the battlefield, as they provided encouragement to Terri’s father until his passing in 1999 and continued their friendship with her family in the years that followed.
After his military service, Mr. Tolle worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation in Adams County for 35 years while also farming in Blue Creek. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 11, 1995. Mr. Tolle passed away on January 5, 2011.
Mrs. Tolle is the oldest member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and, before illness, was a familiar face at the Adams County Fair, particularly enjoying the Quilt and Floral Show displays. She cultivated a love for gardening, raising tomato plants, sharing her harvest with neighbors, and tending to a stunning array of spring and summer flowers, including the striking purple Allium bulbs that line the side of her home. (See photo above) She was also well-known for her homemade noodles, a cherished recipe passed down from her mother-in-law that her family and friends eagerly anticipated.
As Mrs. Tolle embarks on her 100th year, her resilience and grace continue to inspire those around her. In honor of this milestone, community members are invited to send her birthday greetings. Cards may be dropped off or mailed to the offices of The Informer at 307 N. Market Street, West Union, Ohio 45693, and they will be forwarded to her.
Join us in celebrating a truly remarkable woman whose life has been a testament to love, strength, and community.
