A fatal crash in Adams County last Tuesday night, March 4th, 2025, left one person dead and four others with life-threatening injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 6:52 p.m. on State Route 73 at Portsmouth Road in Franklin Township. Investigators determined that a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 43-year-old Christopher L. Gilley, was traveling north on SR 73 when it crossed the centerline and collided with a 1998 Buick LeSabre carrying four occupants.
Gilley was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The four individuals in the LeSabre were transported to Adams County Regional Medical Center and Southern Ohio Medical Center with critical injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, Franklin Township Fire Department, Peebles Fire Department, West Union EMS, Adams County EMS, Adams County Coroner’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, Larry’s Towing, and Barnett’s Towing.
