The Adams County Community Foundation has announced the creation of the David Worley Memorial Fund, a new initiative honoring the late David B. Worley. The fund is dedicated to supporting educational and arts programs in the Adams County community, reflecting David’s lifelong passion for inspiring learning and creativity.
Originally from Cincinnati, David Worley settled in Peebles after marrying Linda Worley (née Lloyd), a Peebles native, in 1975. Throughout his life, David made significant contributions to the community. He was a devoted member of St. Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 266, and chairman of the Adams County Democratic Party. His role as a member of the Peebles Lions Club included directing the annual Peebles Old Timer’s Day Parade, a responsibility he enjoyed, particularly when coordinating the cleanup crew for parade horses.
David’s professional impact was just as profound. As an educator and principal with Adams County Ohio Valley Schools, he inspired countless students through his dedication to teaching, creative pursuits, and innovative projects. Highlights of his career include directing school plays, fostering creative thought, and coordinating a historic connection between local students and the International Space Station to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ first flight.
Now, 15 years after his passing, the David Worley Memorial Fund has been established by his wife, Linda, and their children, Paul Worley and Lauren Worley.
The launch of the David Worley Memorial Fund marks another milestone for the Adams County Community Foundation, which recently celebrated five years of service. Since its inception, the Foundation has established 12 funds, awarded more than 30 community grants, and distributed 91 scholarships to support college and trade school students.
