Miller’s Furniture, a cherished family-owned business in the area, faced a devastating setback after the roof of their store collapsed under the weight of heavy snowfall. The collapse, which occurred between the firewalls in the main section of the store, caused extensive damage to both the building and its inventory.
The incident came after the region was blanketed with about 10 inches of snow, leading to the dangerous weight on the structure. Despite the loss, the Miller family remains determined to restore their store and move forward.
“My family could use prayers right now,” said Kristina Miller, speaking to the community’s overwhelming support in the aftermath of the collapse last week.
Immediately following the incident, the store’s staff, friends, and members of the community came together to begin the arduous cleanup process. From removing broken trusses and insulation to salvaging what furniture they could, the group managed to clear nearly three-quarters of the debris in just one day.
A special and heartwarming effort came from the local Amish community, whose members brought their skills and manpower to assist with the cleanup. Their dedication and assistance were crucial during this challenging time, and the Miller family expressed deep gratitude for their help.
As the family began the process of rebuilding, Kristina Miller took to social media on January 9th to share an uplifting update: the roof was back on the building.
“They had the roof on by last night,” she wrote. “We have an amazing community and friends that are helping every step of the way, from tearing down to rebuilding, making decisions, and bringing in food. They are truly a blessing. Thank you so much to everyone for your prayers, support, and help—we couldn’t do this without you!”
The Millers are now focused on continuing repairs and will soon re-open. Despite the hardship, they remain optimistic, drawing strength from their faith and the unwavering support of their neighbors and friends.
Miller’s Furniture is not just a business—it’s a cornerstone of the community. And with the outpouring of love and help from the people they’ve served for years, the store is well on its way to standing strong once more.
