The annual Adams County Shop with a Cop event was held Saturday in West Union, spreading holiday joy to local families and fostering connections between children and law enforcement officers.
“Today was such an amazing time!” said Chelsea Phelps, a Shop with a Cop board member. “Thank you to everyone who donated, making this possible. Thank you to every single volunteer! Thank you to the parents and children—they were all so respectful and so appreciative. Today was what Christmas is all about.”
Law enforcement officers from multiple departments across the county, along with volunteers from other public service agencies, participated in the event. Together, they ensured a memorable day for children while helping families prepare for the holiday season.
Since its inception in December 2014, the Shop with a Cop program has served over 1,000 children, providing Christmas gifts, food, and necessities throughout the year. Organizers highlighted the program’s mission to create lasting positive relationships between children and law enforcement through these joyful interactions.
“You are the reason the people and families have been blessed,” said event organizers, thanking the community for its support.
The event stands as a testament to the power of community collaboration, bringing smiles to children and demonstrating the spirit of the season in Adams County.
