Lori Greene, a Seaman resident with a last known address at 150 Calvert Road, has been sentenced for embezzling over $400,000 from her employer. The sentencing took place several weeks ago in the Highland County Common Pleas Court, following a tumultuous trial process.
This summer, Greene faced a jury trial, which ended in a mistrial declared by Judge Rocky Coss after the jury failed to reach a decision. As the second trial commenced, Greene entered a guilty plea, admitting to her role in the financial theft from her employer, a Highland County business owner.
According to the prosecutor, as reported by the Highland County Press, the total amount embezzled reached $419,991.15 over a span of just under four years. During closing arguments, a PowerPoint presentation summarized the various misappropriated funds: $248,428.51 in non-business-related charges, $66,502.59 in unauthorized checks, $10,146.01 in payments toward one of Greene’s personal credit cards, and $94,914.04 to another personal credit card.
After Greene’s guilty plea, Judge Coss sentenced her to 90 days in the Highland County Jail and three years of community control. The judge noted that the only reason Greene avoided a prison sentence was her effort to make restitution, including transferring property to Randy Roberts on August 22nd to help repay the stolen funds. Adams County public records confirm that Greene transferred the property.
Greene’s jail sentence has been delayed until November to allow her to address a medical issue and move out of the property she previously occupied, which is now owned by Roberts.
