Mark your calendars and get ready to shop! Ohio’s annual Sales Tax Holiday is set to kick off on Tuesday, July 30th, and will run until Thursday, August 8th. This extended tax-free period provides a fantastic opportunity for families to stock up on back-to-school items and other essentials without paying sales tax.
Each year, Ohio designates at least three days (including the first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in August) for this special tax holiday. This initiative aims to help families purchase clothing, school supplies, and other necessary items, ensuring children are well-prepared for the upcoming school year.
This year’s sales tax holiday is even more inclusive. Starting at 12 a.m. on July 30th and ending at 11:59 p.m. on August 8th, consumers can buy all tangible personal property priced at $500 or less without paying sales tax. Exceptions include watercraft or outboard motors that require titling, motor vehicles, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, vapor products, and items containing marijuana.
“We encourage Adams County families to shop this tax-free week and support local businesses who are the lifeblood of our local economy,” said Jason M. Francis, President of the Adams County Chamber of Commerce. “This is a great opportunity to save money while preparing for the new school year.”
Local businesses are gearing up for the increased activity, with many offering special promotions to attract customers. The sales tax holiday not only benefits families but also boosts the local economy by encouraging consumers to shop locally.
Be sure to take advantage of this extended tax-free period to purchase everything from school supplies and clothing to other essential items. Whether you’re preparing for the school year or just looking to save on various goods, this is the perfect time to shop and save.
Happy shopping, and enjoy the savings!
