The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred on US 23 near State Route 207.
On Friday, June 7th, at approximately 1:55 PM, a 2005 Honda Pilot driven by 22-year-old Alexander Pollard from West Union, Ohio, was traveling south on US 23 with 23-year-old passenger Nicholas Fisher from Peebles. According to authorities, the vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway, crossed the median, and entered the northbound lanes of US 23. The vehicle began to overturn, ejecting Mr. Pollard. It continued off the left side of the roadway and came to rest under the State Route 207 overpass. Mr. Pollard died from his injuries at the scene. Mr. Fisher sustained serious injuries and was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center by Union Township Emergency Medical Services.
US 23 was closed for approximately three hours following the crash. Green Township Fire and EMS, along with Union Township EMS, responded to the scene. The Ross County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
