Staff Report
Tabitha Johnson, the spouse of a man implicated in a double homicide case in Manchester last month, was granted release from incarceration on Monday.
Tabitha and her husband, David Johnson, were apprehended while driving through Clinton County on March 28, following an extensive search spanning multiple counties in Ohio and Northern Kentucky. The search was prompted by the deaths of Jimmy Shoemaker and Sharon Mozingo in Manchester prompting local schools to cancel various activities and sports events and the Mayor ordering the village on lockdown.
Adams County Court Judge Roy Gabbert presided over Tabitha’s release, emphasizing strict conditions to prevent any disruption of peace in Adams County. “There are victims of this crime who are the survivors of the alleged murder,” Gabbert stated. “You are to have no contact with that family or those folks,” said Gabbert.
David Johnson, aged 47, remains in custody under a $2 million cash bond, charged with two counts of murder. The possibility of the death penalty looms over his case, pending a potential grand jury convening within the next couple of weeks.
