The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has provided updates on a tragic double homicide investigation that unfolded in Manchester last week. Sheriff Kimmy Rogers revealed that significant progress has been made, with charges filed against two individuals believed to be connected to the incident.
David Johnson now faces two counts of murder, while Tabitha Johnson is charged with tampering with evidence and obstructing justice in relation to the case. The victims, identified as James Shoemaker and Sharon Kay Monzingo, were discovered deceased in a residence on Sixth Street during the late afternoon hours of Thursday.
Adding to the complexity of the situation, Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation has reported that a third individual was found at the scene with gunshot wounds. The individual remains in critical condition but has stabilized, receiving ongoing medical care.
The shooting, which unfolded in the 200 block of West 6th Street, prompted an immediate and coordinated response from law enforcement agencies across Ohio and Kentucky. In a joint effort, authorities initiated a search for the suspects involved in the incident. After hours of extensive search efforts, the suspects were eventually located and apprehended in Clinton County, bringing a sense of relief to the community.
In response to the unfolding events, local schools took precautionary measures by canceling after-school activities. Additionally, the town of Manchester briefly went into lockdown as authorities worked to secure the area and ensure public safety.
As of press time, David Johnson remains behind bars in the Clinton County Jail while Tabitha Johnson was booked into the Adams County Jail on March 29th.
