The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred in Manchester last week. According to the Patrol, on Thursday morning, 44-year-old Jesse Lainhart of Aberdeen was hit and killed on Cemetery Avenue near US Route 52. The crash occurred at approximately 12:55 a.m.
The preliminary investigation reveals that Lainhart had parked her vehicle on the right side of Cemetery Avenue and while she was unloading a few items from her car, a 1997 Ford Ranger was traveling southbound toward her. Troopers say that the truck traveled right off the side of the road and struck the Pontiac, which in turn hit Lainhart.
Lainhart was transported to Meadowview Regional Medical Center and later transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she later died.
The driver of the truck was not injured, and the passenger sustained minor injuries and the name has not been released. Authorities say that alcohol and drugs are being investigated as factors in the crash.
