Hundreds were in attendance on Thursday evening as the Adams County Republican Club hosted its annual Lincoln/Reagan Dinner at the Willow Event Center. Rather than have one featured speaker, the club opted to have all of the candidates for US Congress speak to the crowd.
Multiple candidates for Congress were in attendance including Kim Georgeton, Tom Hwang, Charles Tassell, David Taylor, Shane Wilkin and Larry Kidd. According to the local party, Taylor, Wilkin and Kidd are all leading candidates for the race. The local party did not endorse in the contest.
Calling the crisis at the border “disastrous”, all of the candidates drove home the message of fixing the immigration system and securing the southern border.
Another highlight of the evening was the Doug White Republican Leadership Award. The award is the club’s most prestigious award and is given once annually to a Republican leader in the community. The 2024 recipient was John Robinson of Peebles. Robinson has been on the GOP Central Committee for many years and is the former President of the Adams County Republican Club. Robinson has volunteered on countless campaigns and worked to advance the Republican cause.
“Thank you for this honor,” said Robinson. “I really love my community.”
The crowd also heard from endorsed State Representative Justin Pizzulli. Pizzulli earned the support of Adams County Republicans after standing up for Adams County on a variety of issues.
Multiple candidates for County Commissioner were also in attendance including Commissioner Diane Ward, Commissioner Barbara Moore and Tony Hawes, Jr. Candidates for Sheriff in attendance were Donnie Edgington, Kenny Dick, and Bob Ruebusch.
