In a moment of great pride, Adams County Farm Bureau was selected and received recognition by the American Farm Bureau Federation for its Farm Bureau Day at the Fair! The AFBF County Activities of Excellence Awards celebrate unique, volunteer-driven programming at the local level. This achievement is not only a testament to the hard and dedication of the Adams County Farm Bureau board trustees and volunteers, but also an acknowledgment of their significant impact on the local community.
Representing Adams County Farm Bureau, board trustees Kristy Watters and Linda Ayres-Louiso, alongside Organizational Director Heather Utter, attended the AFBF conference in Salt Lake City from January 19-23. This event serves as a national platform where Farm Bureaus from across the country come together to share insights, innovations, and celebrate the successes of their respective communities. While representing the local community on the national platform, Kristy, Linda, and Heather were able to share specific successes with attendees during the trade show portion of the event. Additionally, they attended several sessions to gather inspiration for future endeavors.
“The recognition as a CAE winner reflects the Adams County Farm Bureau’s unwavering commitment to promoting agricultural awareness and community engagement,” said the Adams County Farm Bureau. The Farm Bureau Day at the Fair has grown significantly through the years, becoming one of the most anticipated days of fair week for many of our farm families. Shade Tree Park is filled with laughter as games include watermelon eating contests, seed spitting, pedal tractor pulls, and the extremely popular frog jumping contest. Cheers of encouragement echo from the center ring during the tractor games for the adults which includes a series of skill exhibitions including timed wagon backing, tractor basketball, and slow racing. Farm Bureau Day at the Fair success is evident in the large number of participants and spectators that fill the shelter house where many of our activities occur.
