The official kick-off of the holiday season in Adams County took place on Saturday evening on the Adams County Courthouse Square. The Lions Clubs of Adams County once again presented the event, now in its 13th year. As part of the event, the Adams County Chamber of Commerce also had a Christmas Makers Market that highlighted multiple small businesses in the county.
During the festivities, those in attendance were treated with a parade, concert by the Liberty Band, Christmas characters, horse and carriage rides down a decorated Mulberry Street and pictures with Santa immediately following the tree illumination. Past Lions President Matthew Sheeley served as the Emcee for the evening.
The Christmas Cookie Contest had some delightful entries. Once again, Samantha Young took home the first-place prize with her Raspberry Almond cookies. Makayla Nickerson won second with her strawberry and chocolate chip cookies and Samantha Young also placed third with her mint chocolate chip cookies.
“Thanks to everyone who attended Christmas on the Square 2023,” said Lion President Amy Sheeley. “We are always looking for volunteers, you need not be a Lion be we would love to sign you up! Send us a message on Facebook and we will get back with you!”
