Women Helping Women, a rural organization that provides services to individuals impacted by sexual assault, is hosting a community event called “Chalk the Walk” in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention Month. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 18th to Thursday, April 20th, weather permitting, in Adams and Brown Counties.
The organization has experienced significant growth in recent years, providing services to more clients each year. In 2017, Women Helping Women served 23 clients, and by 2022, the organization was able to serve 147 clients, with the addition of two full-time staff members and one part-time staff member. The organization has also been able to expand its services through the support of advocate volunteers.
The “Chalk the Walk” event is an opportunity for local businesses and organizations to show support for survivors of sexual assault. Women Helping Women encourages participants to display messages of support outside of their businesses or organizations.
Davina Cooper, a representative of Women Helping Women, stated that “It’s important to spread awareness and support for survivors of sexual assault, and this event is a great way to do so.”
The event will take place over three days and will be open to anyone who wishes to participate. For more information about the event, please contact Davina Cooper at 937-217-3977. Women Helping Women hopes that the event will not only show support for survivors of sexual assault but also raise awareness about the prevalence of sexual assault in rural communities.
