The recently acquired Panhandle Diner in West Union is quickly becoming a local favorite. The restaurant was previously known as BK Scoop, which was also a revered local restaurant that featured a variety of hotdogs and desserts.
The new owner of the Panhandle Diner is Robin Poole. Poole is excited to begin this new journey. “It was a lifelong dream to own and operate my own restaurant,” Poole told the Informer last week. “Once BK Scoop was up for sale, I jumped at the chance to own it.”
The staff at the restaurant is a well-balanced crew who bring decades of experience to the profession. Olivia McClanahan, a cook and server graduated from Maysville Community Culinary School. Terry Mays has spent over three decades in the restaurant business and also has the role of a cook and server. Poole likes to point out that there are three generations working at the Panhandle Diner – Terri, her daughter, and her mother. The staff is rounded out by Joshua Fuson, who works with the grill and has spent several years in the restaurant field.
Along with weekly and daily specials and a new menu, Panhandle Diner now has an expanded seating area. The inside has been remodeled and painted and plans are in the works to bring back the hot bar from the old IGA building.
“All food is cooked daily,” said Poole. “We cook everything from scratch, nothing frozen.” The eating area is open for small events and gatherings. In addition, their delicious pies and cakes can be pre-ordered for the holidays.
One additional perk of eating with the Panhandle Diner is delivery. They offer delivery within the village limits of West Union.
To order delivery, call 937-544-1634. The Panhandle Diner is located at 632 Panhandle Ave, in West Union. The hours for the restaurant are 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.
