West Union Performing Arts Department invites you to come see their production of You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. It will be held in the West Union High School cafetorium on April 30th and May 1st, 7th and 8th at 7:00 pm, as well as May 2nd and 9th at 3:00pm. Tickets will be available from 2:00-6:30 pm on weekdays at the high school. Seating is limited this year, but we are excited to get back on stage again!!!
The show will star the many talents of Braxton Blanton – Charlie Brown, Tori DeMeyer – Lucy, Matthew Griffis – Linus, Samantha Huffman and Makenna Armstrong – Sally Brown, Makinlee Stevinson and Baylee Bellamy – Snoopy, and Brandt Seaman and Landon Kouns as Shroeder. There are several other students playing many of the other lovable and recognizable Peanuts characters. The show has several parts doubled, so each night will have a different cast combination. The cast is limited this year, with the current restrictions, with thirteen students on stage and several more doing technical work. The story revolves around a group of lovable kids and their journey through elementary school. “I think the comic strips carry simple truths,” says Jeannie Schulz. “It is a mixed world out there – sometimes sweet, sometimes joyous and sometimes disappointing. Disappointments are often sharp and stick with us a long time. Someone once said to me that Peanuts teaches us how to be human. I thought that was pretty profound.”
The production is under the direction of Carl Schneider – Director, Aaron Vanpelt – Music Director, Nancy Schneider – Accompanist and Pit Orchestra Director, Josh White – Tech Director and Set Design, Carol DeMeyer – House Manager and Props, and Matt Sheeley – Video Projections.
The students and staff have been working hard for several months to bring the magic of this show to the communities of Adams County. Join them for a fantastic evening of music, laughter, disappointment, and the joy of the classic musical You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.
