Remember to sign up for our 2020 Summer Reading Program “Imagine Your Story,” going on now through August 15. To help keep everyone safe and healthy, this year we’re taking our Summer Reading Program online by using Beanstack, an easy-to-use website and app that lets you sign up, log your reading and activities, and track your progress all in one place! If you have a large family, Beanstack even makes it easy to manage everyone’s summer reading using a single account. You can download the Beanstack app from the App Store or Google Play Store, or you can access Beanstack in your web browser using the link on our website: adamscolibrary.org.
An easy way to get started with the Summer Reading Program is by watching one of our ACPL Summer Storytimes! In these videos, you’ll experience an engaging virtual storytime complete with children’s books, songs, rhymes, and crafts! Watching these videos will enable you to complete part of Beanstack’s Summer Reading Activities challenge, and you can read the Hoopla Digital children’s books our staff members recommend to earn reading minutes and help you achieve the reading goals for this year: Kids (Ages 0-9) = 10 hours; Teens (Ages 10-17) = 16 hours; and Adults (Ages 18+) = 20 hours. You can access these Virtual Storytime videos on our Adams County Public Library (Ohio) Facebook page or our Adams County Library YouTube channel.
Library Resource Spotlight: Currently, the only items that will be readily available for pickup at one of our locations are those owned by an Adams County Public Library branch. To help prevent you from placing a hold on an item that may not be available for several weeks or months, try limiting your search on our online catalog to only display materials owned by the Adams County Public Library. Simply go to the “All Libraries” box on the upper-left hand side of our catalog’s homepage, and select “Adams County Systems.” You can also select your local library branch to search for items belonging to that location so you don’t have to wait for it to be transported between libraries. Please note that you cannot limit your item search by location in our mobile SEO Libraries app. Instead, you would need to click on the item and scroll down to see if a copy of it is owned by one of our libraries, or you could use your mobile device’s web browser to access our online catalog.
