Dessie Nichols Strine, 94 years, of Peebles, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2019, at the Monarch Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Seaman, Ohio.
Dessie was born on February 16, 1925, in the Jaybird community of Peebles, Ohio, the daughter of the late Perry and Margaret (Deatley) Palmer. Dessie attended a one-room school at Peach Mountain until she started at Franklin School in Locust Grove.
Dessie is survived by two sons, Norman (Lois) Nichols, of Batavia; and Dennis (Anna) Nichols, of Mt. Orab; as well as a daughter-in-law, Diana Nichols, of Wilmington. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Dessie was preceded in death by her parents and by her first husband, Charles Elmo Nichols, whom she married after high school, as well as her second husband, Harlan Strine, of Dayton, Ohio. Dessie was also preceded in death by her son, Kerry Nichols, and her daughter, Julia Nichols.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, in Peebles, Ohio. The ceremony will be officiated by Phil Fulton. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
