Members of the 2019 class of Leadership Adams are working together to help the Adams County Homeless Shelter to provide increased space.
“We have worked many different angles trying to find a solution for our local shelter so they can house more individuals,” said Shannon Mack. “We have looked at moving the shelter, land options, building options and the best suitable answer, for the time being, is to start a building fund. We understand this is a big project to take on and will not be an overnight process.”
The group of leaders includes Larry Heller, Clerk of Courts, Kayla Ross Nurse practitioner for SOMC, Corey Campbell General Electric Company, Shannon Mack Woodforest National Bank, Carlee Crump Venture Productions, Dylan Lowe Venture Productions, and Justin Hamilton Southern State Community College.
In efforts to raise funds, the group is hosting the “Run for Shelter” 5K at the Adams Lake State Park in West Union, Ohio on Saturday, May 18th.
Registration for the 5K will be the day of the race. The registration fee is $30.00 and runners/walkers will receive a t-shirt. Registration time is 7 AM and the race is 8 AM. All proceeds will go to the Adams County Homeless Shelter. “Our goal is not only to raise money for a building fund but to also raise awareness,” said Mack.
“We would like to thank our sponsors who have donated funds for our t-shirts. Without them this would not be possible: Pro Mechanical Services, Erin Lewis, Western Southern Life, Woodforest National Bank, Hazelbaker Photography, Lou Belles Cakes, Kayla Ross Nurse Practitioner, Make a Friend Gift Shop, Chasity Howell, Rebel Printing LLC, 1st Stop Inc, Rob Jump, and Wilson Realtors,” said Mack.
